The Grammar School
Our Grammar School students are lovingly formed in truth and virtue, as they diligently master the foundational arts of language, mathematics, and history, preparing their minds and souls to rightly order their lives and glorify God through thoughtful engagement with His creation
Grammar School students will spend their school days immersed in the Bible, math, literature, Latin, and history.
Bible
Through the next several years in the Grammar School, students will spend time in God’s Word building their comprehension and memorization of key events, people, and scripture passages. As students progress, we will see our Grammar School graduates able to provide summaries on major parts of Scripture.
Math
Our Grammar School students build a strong mathematical foundation through consistent practice and thoughtful instruction. Emphasis is placed on fact memorization, accurate computation, and careful work, fostering both independence and attention to detail. Students deepen their conceptual understanding by engaging with word problems, and regular reviews of all concepts for continued mastery. Through this process, they not only gain essential skills but also grow in confidence and appreciation for the orderliness of God’s creation.
Literature
Our Grammar School students immerse themselves in the beauty of language through rich literature and time-tested classical methods. Instruction in accurate spelling, phonograms, and dictation reinforces foundational language skills, while narration and composition develop clear thinking and confident expression. Students grow in reading fluency, accuracy, and expression, deepening comprehension and vocabulary along the way. With careful attention to penmanship, sentence structure, and content, each student is equipped to read well, write well, and think well.
Grammar
Students learn to identify and use the parts of speech properly and confidently, comprehend foundational concepts, and apply correct mechanics and usage in their writing and speech. Oral speaking and sentence diagramming reinforce understanding, helping students see how language fits together with clarity and purpose. This early training lays the groundwork for precise communication and logical thinking in the student’s future.
History
As students walk through the Biblical Timeline, they are introduced to major events and people that have shaped our society. They learn to identify significant moments in history and connect them across time using timelines, narration, and geographical concepts and map skills to build a clear sense of place and progression. Through engaging projects, research, essays, and summaries, students grow in their ability to communicate what they’ve learned with depth and clarity. This approach not only builds historical understanding but also nurtures a love for God’s providential work through time.
Latin
As students enter second grade, they will begin to learn the language of Latin. This will carry through their remaining years in the Grammar school and help them as they enter into the Logic and Rhetoric school by forming the base of knowledge of the language and basic use of the language.
